Echinoid Classification

There are around 40 known species of echinoid's found from the Florida Tertiary. Their proliferation was due partially to a warmer climate than today, but the fossil record is so complete mainly because most of them lived under or near the surface of the bottom and there for less likely to be destroyed before fossilization.
